Disposition of Worn-out Flags

Old or worn-out flags should not be used either for banners or for any secondary purpose. When a flag is in such a condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed, preferably by burning or by some other method lacking in any suggestion of irreverence or disrespect to the emblem representing our country.
